"In more than thirty years of dealing with real estate sales people in New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Virginia, I haven't seen one -- not a single one -- come even close to matching the performance of this young lady over the past few days.
Before I'd done much, I'd had an auto-response back from her, then a personal response. She discussed our wants with me and offered to send me whatever listings shoe could find. When several were received, I refined the search in a conversation with her, then made plans to meet with her on Friday evening or Saturday morning.
As my wife and I were driving from near Binghamton NY to Virginia on Friday, I continued receiving updates from Christina on my Blackberry. As we got closer to her area, she expressed a willingness to go out that evening, even though we'd be able to accomplish little because of the hour. We decided it would be best to get an early start Saturday, and she agreed to meet us at 8:30.
Ten hours later, she was still driving us around, still with a cheery smile, still with encouragement that, despite some tough breaks that day -- places we couldn't get into, through no fault of hers; places that were not as advertised; places that were nearly impossible to find due to poor directions provided by other agencies. Oh, and three-quarters through that long, trying day Christina took us to her office where her broker joined in the search on our behalf. Their mutual respect for each other, and the team-work of that office, was clearly evident.
About this time, our goal shifted from buying to renting, and Christina was about the perfect person to be speaking to about that. We went on to look at a couple of more places in the tail end of that afternoon, then while my wife and I grabbed a quick meal before collapsing at our motel, Christina quickly took care of her family's needs... then she was right back on the computer searching out more places for us to look at. The last e-mail received from her that night was at a bit after 11;30 pm!
If Saturday was bad, Sunday was... a wreck. Literally: I'd been having engine trouble in my truck, and Sunday morning it stalled and had to be towed. The tow shop operator thought he fixed the problem for me, but it came back minutes after Christina had joined us and we'd started off for another viewing. When I started boubling back to the repair shop, I had an accident, totaling my truck. Fearing I might have a back injury, the medics strapped me to a board, and rushed me to UVA Hospital.
My wife went with me, Christina went back to retrieve our dog, who'd panicked after being in the accident. Then Christina helped my wife get a rental car and get settled into a motel. Finally, she went home to her family --again, like the night before, well after dark. But she_still_wasn't done: She checked in with my wife by phone at least twice more that evening to check on my condition. (Fortunately, I was not injured.)
Then there she was again on Monday, back out with us looking at more potential homes for us, maneuvering this time through pouring rain. Eventually, late in the afternoon, we'd seen all she could show us, and we headed for home. And STILL she wasn't done!
That night even more e-mails came in from her, as did at least one more phone call. The same happend on Tuesday, as we completed our run.back to New York.
All this would be amazing enough if Christina was lining herself up for a a nice sales commission from all her efforts on our behalf. But we never were looking in the higher end of the housing market, so at best she'd have been working toward a 'modest' commission. When we shifted from seeking to purchase toward the rental market, her chances of earning back even her gas money dropped dramatically. Still, she kept right at it, cheerful as ever.
Christina Arbogast is deserving of special recognition from RE/MAX. She reaches out aggressively to attract customers' attention, stretches as far as she needs to meet their needs, and in so doing, sets a very high bar for others in your industy. She's certainly got our vote for Agent of the Year".
